KC AUSA Officer Installation

Wednesday January 22, 2020 was a snowy morning when the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Association of the United States Army hosted a membership breakfast featuring Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Kansas-East Mike Hockley, and CSM (R) Rick Morris, 5th Region President.  CSM Morris installed KCAUSA’s new Chapter President, COL (R) Scott Weaver and Executive Vice President, MAJ (R) Jim Kane.  Nearly 40 of the Chapter’s members braved icy roads and falling snow to hear CASA Mike Hockley and to congratulate COL (R) Scott Weaver and MAJ (R) Jim Kane as they begin their 2020-2022 term as the KSAUSA’s elected officers.

Honoring outgoing Chapter President MAJ (R) Emma Toops’ four years of service, 5th Region President Rick Morris made the trip to Kansas City from Fort Leonard Wood to recognize MAJ Toops’ dedication and energy in leading KCAUSA in its many outstanding activities in support of soldiers, civilians, veterans and their families in the greater Kansas City area through its programs and community outreach.

Our featured program speaker, Mike Hockley, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the U.S. Army (CASA) for Kansas (East), gave a very educational presentation about the CASA program. His remarks were supplemented by attending members of the KC Army Recruiting Battalion pertaining to how the CASA program is providing support towards the recruiting mission.

Chapter President COL (R) Scott Weaver is a retired Army combat veteran who served over 29 years on active duty as an infantry officer and strategist.  His strategic-level assignments focused on Southwest Asia and Europe. Scott’s operational experience included Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the Kosovo Air War (Operation Allied Force), Operation Northern Watch, and Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.  He worked Theater plans for U.S. Central Command several times during 2002-2013.
