#4 Veterans Want Community Connections
Veterans are looking for community activities such as recreation, connection with other veterans and volunteer opportunities, according to results of a community integration survey conducted by America’s Warrior Partnership, a nonprofit organization connecting service members and veterans with local veteran-centric nonprofits. “Our nation’s warriors are looking for relationships and ongoing connections within their community when they become veterans,” said Jim Lorraine, the organization’s president and CEO.
What to watch: Most veterans in the poll said they were thriving and feeling hopeful about the future, and those most likely to feel that way were regularly involved in community events. That’s something worth considering when looking to increase participation in military-related events.
